ANTI-RAGGING
Ragging is a serious offence that is strictly prohibited under the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009. It is a punishable offence under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The college has established an Anti-Ragging Cell and a Committee to ensure effective implementation and create a safe, inclusive and harassment-free learning environment. The cell is dedicated to preventing and addressing any incidence of ragging by promoting a culture of mutual respect and safeguarding the well-being of all students through awareness programmes, strict monitoring and prompt action.
The Anti-Ragging Cell upholds the values of discipline, dignity and harmony within the institution.
OBJECTIVES

To create awareness among students about the detrimental effects of ragging and the severe consequences associated with it

To provide a safe and secure environment for all students, particularly freshers, ensuring they are free from intimidation, harassment or victimization

To establish accessible and confidential channels for students to report ragging incidents without fear of reprisal
-
To respond promptly and effectively to reported incidents of ragging through proper investigation
-
To provide counselling services to both victims of ragging and students who have engaged in ragging behaviour
-
To conduct regular anti-ragging campaigns, orientation programmes and workshops to foster a culture of mutual respect and discipline

To ensure compliance with all UGC regulations and Supreme Court directives related to preventing ragging in higher educational institutions

o maintain proper records of anti-ragging undertakings from students and parents, as well as documentation of any incidents and actions taken

MEASURES FOR PREVENTION OF RAGGING
a) Ragging within and outside the campus is totally banned
b) Every student has to file an affidavit. The affidavit should be filled up and signed by the candidate
c) A printed affidavit, preferably in English and translated version in the regional language, and duly attested, should be submitted at the time of admission
d) The applicant must submit documents along with the school leaving certificate / character certificate which shall include a report on the behavioural pattern of the applicant so that the institution may keep intense watch upon the students having a negative entry in behaviour
e) Each batch of freshers should be divided into small groups where each group shall be assigned to a member of staff. Such staff members should interact individually with each member on a regular basis to ascertain the problems …difficulties, if any, faced by the freshers. All the institutional and hostel premises shall be under continuous surveillance.
**ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN AGAINST STUDENTS
FOR INDULGING AND ABETTING RAGGING
IN THE INSTITUTION**
a) A strong, exemplary and justifiable punishment awarded to persons indulged in ragging to create a deterrent against recurrence of such incidents
b) The cases of students indulging in ragging, a First Information Report (FIR) would be filed without exception by the institutional authorities with the local police
c) Depending upon the nature and gravity of the offence, the possible punishments include:
i) Suspension from attending classes
ii) Withholding / withdrawing scholarship / fellowship
iii) Debarring from appearing in any test / examination or other evaluation process
iv) Rustication from the institution
To prevent the menace of ragging and promote healthy interaction and harmony among students in the college campus, ragging is strictly forbidden in the college campus. The Anti-Ragging Committee has been activated from time to time and all the members of Anti-Ragging Committee are contributing their efforts to maintain the ragging-free environment in college campus.
Anti-Ragging Committee celebrated Anti-Ragging Day by showing videos on ragging & its effects on freshers and senior students on 25 September 2025. The main aim of the activity was to create awareness about ragging.

The aim of the meeting was to create awareness about ragging and sensitize students about ragging and its negative impact on mental and physical health of students.
